Al Jazeera is doing the things! Episode 1 of The Gold Mafia investigative documentary is out now.
So, there is this man named Uebert Angel, born Uebert Mudzanire back in September 1978. He is s a big shot both in business and religion. He runs a church called Good News Church which used to be known as Spirit Embassy when it first started in the United Kingdom back in 2007. People call him "Prophet Angel" nowadays; he used to go by "Uebert Angel Mudzanire". Oh, and get this - he's also the Presidential Envoy and Ambassador At Large for Zimbabwe in Europe and the Americas. How's that for a resume?
Perversion of Theology: "Magic Genie Christianity"
As a "Christian" leader of the Charismatic theological tradition and charismatic in the personal sense, he certainly has a penchant for Prosperity Gospel shenanigans. The worship of health and wealth at the expense of Jesus is his portion. His personal website and church website certainly look like a marketing 101 palooza that would inspire an act like in the scriptures of John 2:12-23. Where is there a mention of the classic Christian gospel there? A whole bunch of me-me-me-centred nonsense. It's the gospel of Vana Papa.
Sitting on the Round Table of the Zimbabwean Government
In the Al Jazeera documentary exposing the "Gold Mafia", Uebert pompously claims to be able to launder money for their gold operation using a combination of his special diplomatic status and connections. In March 2021, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed Angel as an ambassador-at-large and a presidential envoy. I don't know what the hell that means but it is as useful as his title as "Prophet" - just a means to take advantage of other people.
Not Looking Good For The "Prophet"
The irony is certainly not lost when people observed that the "Prophet" could not see that he was being investigated for involvement in this gold money laundering scheme. President Mnangagwa seems to have thrown him away after these new developments.
What's it going to be for Uebert?
