Al Jazeera Puts the Much Anticipated Zim Corruption, Gold Smuggling and Money Laundering Documentary on Hold
Snippet from the anticipated documentary by Al Jazeerah

Breaking News: In what has become one of the most trending developments, Al Jazeera has put on hold the broadcasting of the much-anticipated documentary which is the result of a two-year investigation of corruption, money laundering and gold smuggling involving Zimbabwe government officials and their affiliates.

One can only wonder what is taking place behind the scenes. Is Zanu-PF threatening Al Jazeera?  Time will reveal all, and as it does Top Tunnel will be keeping you updated.

However, for now, we can be sure of the following things:

  • Regardless of the motivations behind Al Jazeera stalling the release of this revealing documentary, Al Jazeera is a force to be reckoned with in terms of investigative journalism. It is unlikely that they would compromise their good name by stringing together a couple of flimsy cases of corruption and money laundering. The entire world knows that when Zanu-PF officials loot, they do it big!
  • Corruption in Zimbabwe is rampant, and the broadcast will merely be a confirmation of what is known. The exciting part is seeing the faces and hearing the voices of these witches that are causing headaches in the community. One popular face already revealed in the trailer is that of Uebert Angel, a self-proclaimed flamboyant prophet who is embroiled in scandals.
  • Documentary or no documentary, Zanu-PF has a hard task proving to Zimbabweans that they are deserving more years in office. The collapsed healthcare system, incapacitated medical staff,  hungry teachers,  and potholes on major roads will greatly influence the coming election than a documentary that will most likely only be viewed by an elite minority.
  • Feathers have been riled. The mouthpiece of the state, The Herald Newspaper in a fit of rage or confusion published a rebuttal to which they later deleted from their website. To access the deleted document, click this link.
